Burial and cemeteries advisory group
The advisory group was established in December 2001 following the report on cemeteries by the Environment, Transport and Regional Affairs Select Committee.
Terms of reference
For the purposes of the government's review of burial law and policy, and for related purposes:
- to provide good practice advice on the provision, management and maintenance of burial grounds, including such grounds closed to further burials
- to produce advice on good burial practice and procedures, including exhumation
- to make recommendations to the Ministry of Justice on appropriate policy and legislative change, including recommendations on future advisory arrangements.
