The Criminal Cases Review Commission is the independent non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Ministry of Justice, responsible for reviewing possible miscarriages of justice in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  The Commission considers applications and refers cases to the appeal courts where they consider there is a real possibility the conviction or sentence would not be upheld.

Non-executive directors are sought to join the Commission’s board to bring challenge and a valuable external perspective to its work.  Those appointed will work with the Commission to provide strategic advice to the board, and support the board in providing clear leadership to the Commission.

You will have an exceptional track record of success in board management roles in either the public, private or voluntary sectors.  This, coupled with your understanding of Whitehall, experience of delivery and customer focussed organisations and understanding of the economic and political environment in which the Commission operates, will enable you make a positive contribution to the future success of this important organisation.
