About the Legal Ombudsman
The Legal Ombudsman for England and Wales was set up by the Office for Legal Complaints (the Board) under the Legal Services Act 2007.
The Ombudsman resolves legal complaints in a fair and independent way - the Ombudsman does not take sides, is not a consumer champions or part of the legal profession, but is independent of Government.
The Ombudsman provides services to all members of the public, very small businesses, charities, clubs and trusts. The service is free to these consumers.
The Legal Ombudsman handles different types of complaints about legal services including:
- Wills
- Personal injury
- Intellectual property
- Criminal law
- Civil litigation
- Immigration
- Employment issues
