(15 July 2009)

The AJTC has today published its Annual Report for 2008/9 covering its first full year of operation.

The Adminstrative Justice and Tribunal Council today publishes its Annual Report for 2008/9 covering its first full year of operation.

In his final Annual Report after nearly 10 years as Chairman of the AJTC and the former Council on Tribunals, Lord Newton of Braintree says that one of the AJTC’s early priorities has been to “explore and develop the AJTC’s understanding of the administrative justice system so that it might be shared with others”.

The Report gives an account of the AJTC’s work during the year and points to its plans for its programme of work for the coming year, including:

  • Promoting better initial decision making in order to improve the experience of the users of administrative justice across the board; and
  • Moving forward on the drafting and publication of a new code of Practice dealing with consultation with the AJTC on all forms of legislation affecting tribunals and administrative justice.
