All of which provides them with the skills, knowledge and qualifications to assist them into further Education or Employment upon release. Prisoners can also chose to undertake employment whilst in Ashfield including Kitchens, Waste Management, Laundry and Printing, again providing them the necessary skills to assist them in finding employment upon their release.

The Physical Education department will also work alongside Healthcare to encourage prisoners to live healthy lifestyles and provide education and information on diet, fitness and general well-being.
Ashfield provides opportunities for young people to engage in safe, supervised, structured employment, which will benefit the young person and the prison community. In particular, the prison has developed links with Avon & Somerset Fire and Rescue, Wessex Water and several catering employers.
