Additional information: There is a Visitors Centre outside of the main gate which has a rest room and toilet facilities. There are no toilet facilities in the Visits area.

How to get there:
- Train: There is an hourly train service from London (Waterloo) arriving at Dorchester South and from Bristol and the West arriving at Dorchester West Railway Station. Both stations are within a 15 minute walk of the prison through the shopping centre although taxis are always available at the stations.
- Train: National Bus services arrive at the 'Top of the Town' car park which is within 10 minutes walk of the prison.
- Car: Dorchester Prison is approached by the A37 from the Bristol/Yeovil direction; the A35 from the east (Bournemouth/Southampton direction) and the west (Exeter direction); and the A354 from the south (Weymouth)
- The prison is situated in the centre of town with several public car parks close by.
