Erlestoke Prison information

HMP Erlestoke is a Category C establishment holding adult male sentenced offenders. The prison is built on the former grounds of Erlestoke Manor House and has over the past few years expanded in both offender numbers and intervention programmes.

The establishments’ focus is firmly fixed on reducing reoffending and preventing future victims of crime by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education, in a pro social environment.

The Establishments’ Commitment Statement is as follows:

HMP Erlestoke is a safe and secure establishment that provides offenders with the motivation and opportunities to lead crime free lives.
We achieve this by working collaboratively with our partnership organisations, the voluntary sector and the wider community. We will build on our successes and, as a community, grow together. We protect the public and prevent future victims by supporting offenders to lead law abiding lives through hard work and rehabilitation.
Decency, respect and integrity are central to everything that we do.

The key principles of delivery are:

A. Maintaining a safe and secure prison whilst delivering a drug and alcohol free community
B. Providing opportunity for all offenders to work hard, reduce risks of offending and make a positive contribution to society and challenge where they do not
C. Collectively and efficiently managing our risks and resources within a challenging financial climate
D. Working collaboratively with partner agencies and individuals to achieve quality outcomes that reduce offending rates and prevent future victims of crime
E. Managing known change and shaping the future direction of the establishment
F. Actively involving staff and offenders in self development and in the creation of pro-social role models

HMP Erlestoke is a non-smoking establishment.
