Regime information for Feltham Prison
YOI Feltham offers a progressive and challenging regime in a modern environment. A range of activities aims to equip young people/adults with the key skills necessary to reduce the risk of re-offending after release.
Each person that comes into Feltham will have a comprehensive induction that aims to prepare them for a stay within the establishment. They will meet and work with specialists who will identify and help young people and young adults with specific needs before they start going to college.
Education is provided by ‘Prospects’ and ‘Manchester College’ which is open 5 days a week. Allowing for 30 hours of education a week. Both provide and offer a wide range of subjects including English, Maths, I.T., Art, Music, Languages, Barber shop, Catering course, Drama plus a range of vocational qualifications.
When not undertaking education, young people in our care will have access to a range of facilities.
These include access to:
- recreational PE
- enrichment activities
- social visits
- chaplaincy services
- telephones to maintain family contact
- time in the open air
There is a well-equipped library for young people and young adults. There is a good range of reading material for ages 15 to 21. There is a reference section to support them in law, a selection of books in foreign languages, careers, study desks and a wide range of material to read in the library or back in their rooms.
Gymnasium and sports
There are two purpose-built sport halls, one with a climbing wall and the other a five-a-side pitch. It also has a well-equipped weights Room, Fitness suite. Showers available in the sports area. All of the indoor facilities are in use for 7 days a week. In fine weather the external sports fields are used: - two football pitches and one rugby pitch.
Our workshop area provides young people and young adults a range of different skills. Workshops include Bricks, Decorating and Printing, Industrial Cleaning, multi skills, drama / studio workshop, laundry, waste management, gardens and mechanics. An Allocation Employment board meets weekly to allocate space to link with sentence plans.
Feltham runs a very diverse program with a number of multi – faith rooms to ensure a range of religious services. They are a large number of volunteers working within the chaplaincy department.
Healthcare is provided by Care UK. Out-patients is delivered by medical staff and registered nurses in the healthcare centre. There are a range of clinics for young people and young adults to ensure their care and correct health services provided within a satisfactory time scale.
