Additional information 

Social visitors can also still book their next visit during their visit.

You can't hand in property on visits nor post items to the prison. However, you can still send in money and postal orders. This is due to a law that came in on 1 November 2013.

Your loved one can also give to visitors any property that they don't want to keep.

There is a Visitors Centre providing for social visitors in partnership with PACT.

Visitor Centre
There is a family-friendly visitor's centre run by the Prison Advice and Care Trust (PACT), a national charity. Visitors are offered a warm welcome, information and support. Further information can be found on the PACT website or by calling 01858 461134 or 01858 466614 to speak to a member of the PACT team.

Official visits  

Wednesdays only: 9-11am and 2-4pm

Prison Voicemail service

Social contacts can exchange voicemails with prisoners through the Prison Voicemail service, which is available at this establishment. Family members or friends sign up online and are given a unique landline phone number which they can call at any time to leave messages. The prisoner dials the same number from within the prison to listen and reply. You can find more information including pricing at www.prisonvoicemail.com.

How to get there

Bus: There is a bus service from Market Harborough. The number 44 which runs Monday to Saturday from the train station via the square to HMP Gartree. The service leaves the train station at 35 minutes past the hour from 09:35 (with extra services at 07:35 and 08:20) until 18:35. The service from Gartree to Market Harborough runs at 7 minutes past the hour from 08:07 until 18:07.

Rail: There is a railway station at Market Harborough. Taxis are available but they are expensive.

Car: Take the M1 and exit at junction 20 and take the A427 towards Market Harborough for 10 miles. At the village of Lubenham, turn left towards Foxton. After 1 mile turn right towards Gartree, 400 yards on the right.
