Sheppey Cluster (Swaleside) Prison information

There are a number of other ways to contact someone in prison if you are unable to visit them. You can:

- write to them

The Sheppey Cluster is an amalgamation of the three establishments, Elmley, Standford Hill and Swaleside.
Swaleside is a Category B Training Prison.

Operational capacity: 1112 as of 3rd February 2010 (temporarily reduced to 986 whilst A wing is closed for re wiring)
Reception criteria: Swaleside will accept category B prisoners who are serving 4 years or more or should have at least 18 months left to serve. We are a main centre prison for prisoners in the first stage of their life sentence. We also accept prisoners in the second stage of their life sentence, giving us a total of 460 places for lifers.
