Usk/Prescoed (Prescoed) prison visiting information
Visits Centre: Is open 30 minutes before visits start.
You have to make sure if you are attending a visit that you must bring photo ID with you or you will not be allowed to attend the visit.
Booking information: No pre-booking at present this is all done through the application process which is completed by the prisoners.
Additional information: There is a Visitors Centre this will be open 30 minutes before visits is due to commence. Visits then take place the dining hall. No property or cash allowed to be brought in without prior approval. If property is brought in without the correct paperwork you will be asked to take it back home with you until you receive the correct approval.
If you wish to purchase snacks and drinks only £20 is permitted to be brought in per adult.
We also have 7 Family Days throughout the year we aim to have these dated within the school holidays. Twice annually we hold family focus groups to discuss any views and potentially changes that you feel would improve the visits process.
Community visits for eligible inmates 09:00 – 18:00 Saturday or Sunday. Mid-week community visits considered by special application to the Governor.

How to get there:
- The nearest rail links are Abergavenny to the North, and Newport, Cwmbran or New Inn (Pontypool) to the South. Thereafter by taxi or bus if available.
- There is a limited bus service from Newport to Usk. The service operates only once or twice a week from Abergavenny/Monmouth.
- To Usk
From North Monmouth/Ross on Wye/M50/M5: Take A449 trunk road from Monmouth signposted for Newport/M4 - turning off this road after approx. 13 Miles.
From South Newport/M4/Severn Bridge: Take junction 24 off M4 motorway signposted for Monmouth and M50 north. Take A449 Monmouth/M50 and after approx. 8 miles take turning for Usk. Continue into Usk
From Cardiff: Follow signs for M4 and stay on M4 east (Newport/Severn Bridge) until J24 - signposted for A449 Monmouth/Ross on Wye/Hereford). This junction brings you off to the Coldra Roundabout. Follow signs for Monmouth/Usk - get into left hand filter lane for Monmouth and continue - Usk approx. 8 miles. See above for remainder of directions to Usk.
- Directions from Usk to HMP\YOI Prescoed: The HMP\YOI is situated some 3.5 miles from Usk - follow the directions to Usk (above) - from the High Street go over river bridge (River Usk), turn immediately left over river bridge, continue to Llanbadoc some 300 yards, turn right in front of Llanbadoc Church before cottage (signposted Llandegveth Reservoir/Prescoed) - take care - narrow road - continue along road for approx 2.5 miles - take left fork in road - take care - very narrow - after approx 0.5 mile - Prescoed Camp situated on right hand side.
