Booking online

To book online, visit: www.gov.uk/prison-visits

All you need is:

- the name and date of birth of the person you are visiting

- their prisoner number

You can choose up to 3 possible dates and times. Prison booking staff will check what’s available and confirm your visit by email. You’ll also receive your visiting order (VO) number by email. You must bring this with you when you visit.

If you've made an online visit booking request and haven't received a confirmation email within 1-3 working days, email visitsbooking.westmidlands@noms.gsi.gov.uk

Telephone booking

Visits must be pre-booked by telephoning 0300 060 6508 between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00 Monday - Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). The visits line closes 48 hours prior to the visit session but you can book a visit up to 28 days in advance.

Additional information

Failure to bring correct identification on the day of the visit will result in the visit being cancelled.

All valuables should be left in cars or in the lockers provided in the outside visits centre. Any suspicious or disruptive behaviour whilst in the visits centre will not be tolerated and in extreme circumstances could result in termination of the visit and visitors being banned from re-visiting for a period of time.

We also offer Family Visits to all young people at Werrington. This is a chance for the family to see the establishment and spend a day with their family member to ensure his wellbeing. Parents, carers and siblings are all welcome.

How to get there

Werrington Juvenile Centre is situated near Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire.

  • Train: The nearest mainline railway station is Stoke– on–Trent.
  • Bus: Stoke Railway Station to Werrington: catch a First Bus service 25 to Hanley Bus Station from the bus stop opposite the station. This goes every 10 minutes during the day and the trip to Hanley Bus Station takes about 10 minutes. From Hanley Bus Station catch a First Bus Service 32 from stand 10. This goes every 20 minutes during the day and the trip to Werrington takes about 13 minutes. Long distance services run into Hanley Bus Station. Check with your local provider for service times or Travel Line on 0871 200 2233.
  • Car: From M6 North & South:
    Join the M6 and continue until Junction 15
    At junction 15 leave the M6 (signposted Stoke on Trent)
    At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Queensway – A500
    Continue forward on Queensway – A500 entering Stoke on Trent
    After the roundabout (on Bullet Point 3) take the 2nd exit onto the A50 passing Britannia Stadium on your right
    Continue forward
    Exit the A50 at the 5th exit (signposted Meir)
    At the round about take the 1st exit – A520 (signposted Leek)
    Continue forward entering Weston Coyney. Keep going straight until reaching Cellarhead cross roads
    At Cellarhead cross roads lights turn left onto Cellarhead Road, entering Werrington
    Continue forward until you reach Werrington College on the left hand side of the road.
  • From M1 – North & South:
    Join M1 and Continue until junction 23A
    Come off the M1 at junction 23A then merge onto the A453 (Sign posted A453, Stoke)
    At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto A453( signposted Nottingham, Derby)
    Next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A50 (signposted Stoke, Derby)
    Continue forward at junction 2 ( signposted Uttoxeter, Stoke on Trent)
    At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit continuing on the A50. (signposted M6, Stoke)
    At roundabout take the 2nd exit, continuing on the A50 (signposted M6, Stoke)
    Next round about take 2nd exit onto the A50
    Continue forward until next roundabout when you take the 1st exit onto the A50 (signposted Stoke on Trent)
    Continue on the A50 taking the 3rd exit off the A50 after the round about entering Meir
    Once off the A50 you will approach a roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A520 (Signposted Leek)
    Continue forward entering Weston Coyney, Keep going straight until reaching Cellarhead cross roads
    At the Cellarhead cross roads lights turn left onto Cellarhead Road, entering Werrington
    Continue forward until you reach Werrington College on the left hand side of the road.
  • Limited car parking, including designated bays for the disabled, is available on site.
