Prison Voicemail service

Social contacts can exchange voicemails with prisoners through the Prison Voicemail service, which is available at this establishment. Family members or friends sign up online and are given a unique landline phone number which they can call at any time to leave messages. The prisoner dials the same number from within the prison to listen and reply. You can find more information including pricing at www.prisonvoicemail.com.

Visitor Centre
There is a family-friendly visitor's centre run by the Prison Advice and Care Trust (PACT), a national charity. Visitors are offered a warm welcome, information and support. Further information can be found on the PACT website or by calling 01949 803200 to speak to a member of the PACT team.

How to get there:

  • Bus: Very few buses go to the prison. Most terminate at Bingham which is about 2 miles away. A taxi service operates from Bingham.
  • Train: Most convenient railway and coach stations are Nottingham Midland Railway Station, Broadmarsh Bus Station, Nottingham and Grantham Railway Station and Bus Station. From each to the prison is about 12 miles.
  • Car: M1 to Nottingham: Pick up ring road around the southern part of the city and following A52 signs to Grantham. After by-passing Bingham (approx 12 miles from Nottingham)) a further 1.5 miles will bring you to HMP Whatton which is on your left and clearly marked.

A1 to Grantham: A52 (West) towards Nottingham and Derby. HMP Whatton is on right approximately 12 miles from Grantham. Do not turn right into Whatton village. The Prison is about half a mile further along the main road.
  • There are two car parks at HMP Whatton for staff and visitors to currently park in. There are a few disable spots behind the visitors centre for disabled parking. Visitors are asked where possible not to park in front of residents houses blocking their drives as parking is currently difficult at Whatton due to the recent expansion.
