Regime information for Wormwood Scrubs Prison
HMP Wormwood Scrubs is a local category B prison operating a standardised core day. Opportunities to reduce re-offending are available through education and training. There is one full time working wing.
Religious services are held for the principal faiths – Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh. Visiting chaplains minister to prisoners of other religions.
Prison staff work along side a Community Rehabilitation Company, to hold service users to account for the harm they have caused victims and communities and to help them gain knowledge, skills and support to help them stop offending and leave the criminal justice system in order for them to lead healthier, happier and more productive lives. A number of charities work with the prison to help prisoners rehabilitate.
The Chaplaincy at HMP Wormwood Scrubs works as a Multi Faith team. The five major religions (Church of England, Roman Catholic, Muslim, Sikh and Hindu) regularly worship in the prison. The other religions are represented by their faith ministers who visit regularly or upon request.
Learning & Skills:
There are several industrial workshops delivering a range of opportunities for prisoners to engage in work, receive training and attain qualifications, these include BICS industrial cleaning course, and an industrial laundry opportunities and qualifications.
There is a full time education program, with qualified teachers supporting learning, concentrates on delivering skills in English, Maths and ICT whilst also providing a program of courses covering languages (ESOL), employability skills including painting and decorating and customer service skills. There is a full time barbering course and a full time rail track laying course.
The local authority runs a Library Service within the prison for use by prisoners and there are book rooms on all wings. The prison also has full time Citizen Advice Bureau input. A full sized gymnasium is available for use by all prisoners.

Social contacts can exchange voicemails with prisoners through the Prison Voicemail service which is available at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. Family members or friends sign up online and are given a unique landline phone number which they can call at any time to leave messages. Sending of parcels to prisoners
We do not accept any registered or recorded parcels via Royal Mail. Parcels should be sent via a courier service.
