2018 Appeal forms

Appeal to the Crown Court under Part 34 of the Criminal Procedure Rules

As well as new forms for appeals to which Part 39 of the Criminal Procedure Rules applies (see beneath), on Monday 1 October, 2018, there will be new forms, too, for appeal to the Crown Court from a magistrates’ court under Part 34 of the Rules. The new forms will help appellants and respondents to comply with the changes to the rules that come into force on that day.

The new appeal forms are being tested in some courts. Court staff will let you know if you have the option to use a new form before the rule changes come into force.

These are the new forms:

On Monday 1 October, 2018, the forms will appear on the Forms page on this website with all the other forms for use with the Criminal Procedure Rules. Depending on the results of the tests being carried out, some changes to the forms may be made.

Appeal to the Court of Appeal about conviction or sentence under Part 39 of the Criminal Procedure Rules

On and after Monday 1 October, 2018, these will be the appeal forms to use for appeals to which CrimPR Part 39 applies (Appeal to the Court of Appeal about conviction or sentence):

On Monday 1 October, 2018, those forms will appear on the Forms page on this website with all the other forms for use with the Criminal Procedure Rules.

Please remember: on and after Monday 1 October, 2018, an appeal to which CrimPR Part 39 applies (appeal to the Court of Appeal about conviction or sentence) must be sent to the Criminal Appeal Office, not to the Crown Court Office. The Criminal Appeal Office has prepared this guidance.
