Court venue hire for events, weddings and filming
Generally, events and filming can only take place outside of normal operating hours, although some buildings are able to offer their facilities at other times subject to certain conditions being met.
Charges depend on the type of filming or event taking place and how long you want to hire the venue for. In addition, the cost of providing security for the building will be added to the hire fee.
We use standard contracts for all filming and events and you must produce evidence of Public Liability Insurance cover before the hire date.
Filming EnquiriesCourts or tribunal offices should not be contacted direct.
Anyone wishing to hire a court or tribunal venue for filming must contact HM Courts & Tribunals Film Unit.
If you want to hire the Royal Courts of Justice then email.
Your request should give as much detail as possible in relation to the type of accommodation you require and if known, your preferred location.
You must include a copy of the proposed script with the enquiry otherwise we will not be able to process your request.
We will vet script to ensure there is no reputational risk to HM Courts & Tribunals Service or any risk that a case may still be on-going or subject to appeal. Once we have approved the request, we will look for a venue that matches your requirements.
We will aim to do this within 10 days of receiving your request and script, although at busy periods this may take longer.
If you already know the location you want, you can see a photograph of the outside of the building giving an indication of the type of building it is and the likelihood of it meeting your needs.
