Law Commissioner for England and Wales

The Lord Chancellor is seeking to appoint a leading lawyer for appointment, from 1st September 2010, as a Law Commissioner to replace Professor Jeremy Horder, whose term ends on 31st August 2010. The role of Law Commissioner is intellectually challenging and offers an exceptional opportunity to have a real impact on law reform.
Commissioners can be holders of judicial office, barristers, solicitors or teachers of law in a University. You will have responsibility for law reform projects principally in the area of criminal law, procedure and evidence. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of proposals by other Commissioners in other areas of law and help to shape the future work of the Commission.
The Ministry of Justice is an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from candidates regardless of ethnicity, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity or any other irrelevant factor.
