Law Society regulatory powers - views sought on draft Order
06 October 2008
The Ministry of Justice is seeking views on a draft order amending the Law Society's regulatory powers.
The Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority wrote to the Ministry of Justice on 1 October recommending that an order is made under the Legal Services Act 2007 to amend their regulatory powers.
The recommended Order amends section 9A of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 to remove a restriction that could prevent firms with multiple tiers of ownership from becoming legal disciplinary practices.
The Ministry of Justice would like to hear your views on the Law Society's recommendation and the draft Order.
The deadline for responses is 17 October 2008.
