Details of changes made to the Criminal Procedure Rules 2005 in April 2008.
The Criminal Procedure Rule Committee amends the rules on two occasions during a year and is committed to producing the next consolidated edition in 2010.
The fifth amendment of the Criminal Procedure Rules came into force in April 2008. This introduced new rules about case management, anti-social behaviour orders and serious crime prevention orders. To complete the committee's comprehensive revision and simplification of the procedure rules for the Court of Appeal, there are new rules about appeals from that court to the House of Lords. All of these changes came into force on 7 April 2008.
The rules about proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, which were amended to take account of provisions in the Serious Crime Act 2007, came into effect from 1 April 2008.
