An update on the work of the family procedure rule committee between January and February 2008.
January 2008
The committee did not meet, but its Child Abduction Working Party met to continue its consideration of draft Family Procedure Rules and Practice Directions relating to international child abduction.
The working party approved draft rules that will be submitted to the full committee at the March 2008 meeting.
February 2008
Having commented on draft Family Procedure Rules over the summer of 2007 and having considered the major points arising from those comments, the committee began consideration of revised draft rules with a view to consulting on the rules by the end of 2008.
The committee also gave further consideration to draft amendments to the Family Proceedings Rules, including new prescribed forms, arising out of Part 1 of the Children and Adoption Act 2006.
A response paper to the consultation Family Procedure Rules – a new procedural code for family proceedings was published.
