Criminal Procedure Rule Committee recruitment 2008

The Lord Chancellor invites applications for the vacancies of justices' clerk, barrister and solicitor on the Criminal Procedure Rule Committee.

The committee makes rules of court for the criminal division of the Court of Appeal and for criminal cases in the Crown Court and in magistrates' courts. Members of the committee are drawn from all parts of the criminal justice system.

The committee meets in London at intervals of about six weeks, usually on a Friday. No remuneration is payable, but committee members are reimbursed their travelling and out-of-pocket expenses.

The competition is being conducted in accordance with the code of practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. The closing date for applications is Friday 18 April 2008. Interviews will be held in London on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 May 2008.

The Lord Chancellor welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates from all sectors of the community, including women, candidates from minority ethnic communities and those with a disability. Appointments will be for up to four years.
