Internet Watch Foundation Awareness Day

24 October 2008

The government is backing the Internet Watch Foundation's Awareness Day, to promote awareness of its hotline to report child abuse images and criminal material online.

One of the Ministry of Justice's main responsibilities is to ensure that the criminal law is effective in the modern era, and that our laws are applicable both online and off-line.

The aim of the Awareness Day is to let internet users know where to report inadvertent exposure to online images of child sex abuse, so the IWF can work with internet service providers, hosting companies and law enforcement agencies to remove the content.

The Internet Watch Foundation allows internet users to report child sex abuse content hosted anywhere in the world, and criminally obscene and racial hatred content hosted in the UK.

More details of the day are available on the Internet Watch Foundation website, where you can also report illegal content.
