The independent Sentencing Commission Working Group is seeking views on how a structured sentencing framework could be adapted for England and Wales.
The aim is to develop a set of proposals to improve the operation of the criminal justice system in relation to sentencing.
The working group was set up by the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice in January 2008 to investigate the potential of a structured sentencing framework, following Lord Carter's review of prisons. Lord Justice Gage is chairing the working group.
The consultation is published by the Judiciary of England and Wales.
