We are conducting a survey of all telephone helplines that are publicly funded to explore the scope for greater co-ordination.
If you work on a publicly funded helpline, please register to take part in our survey:
Completing the survey will help us to:
- learn more about what it is each helpline does
- map services provided by each helpline
- see how each helpline interacts and co-operates with other helplines
Results from the survey will be shared with all participants.
We are leading this work across the public sector because our work on social inclusion and civil and family legal aid has highlighted the need to get the best possible advice to vulnerable people at the earliest possible opportunity. Research highlighting this was published in March 2006:
Research report: Getting earlier, better advice to vulnerable people [1.05mb, 20 pages]
Sir David Varney recommended the government should examine helpline coordination as part of his report of service transformation. Further information on Sir David's report and the following work that government is undertaking:
- Service transformation: A better service for citizens and businesses, a better deal for the taxpayer
- The transformational government delivery council
For further information please email the helplines review team.
