UK Supreme Court Chief Executive recruitment begins

Middlesex Guildhall

08 October 2007

The search for Chief Executive of the UK Supreme Court began this weekend with a nationwide advertising campaign

This marks a major milestone in the creation of the court as an independent institution that is separate from the legislature. The successful candidate will at first work with the Law Lords, House of Lords officials and the Ministry of Justice Supreme Court implementation team to ensure the new court is a world-class organisation.

The Chief Executive will also be responsible for running the organisation when it opens for business in October 2009.  A panel consisting of three current Law Lords, an independent lay-person and a Civil Service Commissioner will interview potential candidates.

The closing date for applications is 29 October 2007 and it is expected that the Chief Executive will be in post by April 2008.
