Lord Justice Burnton retired from the Court of Appeal on 25 October 2012.

Sir Stanley Burnton (70) was called to the Bar (M) in 1965 and took silk in 1982, he became a Bencher in 1991. He was appointed a Recorder in 1994, a High Court Judge (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2000 and as a Legal Member of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission in 2002. He served on the Civil Justice Council between 2004 and 2012, and was a Judicial Member of Her Majesty’s Court Service Board between 2008 and 2009. He was appointed Lord Justice of Appeal in 2008.
