The government's response to the conclusions and recommendations of the Joint Committee Report on the Draft Bribery Bill.

The Joint Committee on the Draft Bribery Bill held its first meeting on 12 May 2009 and appointed Viscount Colville of Culross as Chairman. The Joint Committee heard oral evidence from 37 witnesses and received 61 written submissions over a period of five weeks. Its report was published on 28 July 2009.

The Joint Committee supported the framework of two general offences, a discrete offence of bribery of a foreign public official and an offence of a failure on the part of a commercial organisation to prevent bribery. The government welcomes the report and the Bribery Bill reflects many of the committee's recommendations.
