The Department for Communities and Local Government and the Ministry of Justice are consulting on the government's proposals for local authority charges for property search services.
The Ministry of Justice has policy responsibility for the local land charges under the Local Land Charges Act 1975. The consultation paper discusses the government's proposals for local authority property search charges, in particular, how and by whom the fee for a personal search of the local land charges register should be set and whether the present £11 fee should be changed.
