Courts should be the last resort for people involved in civil or family disputes. Mediation is an alternative to litigation and can be cheaper, quicker and less stressful. It is a voluntary process where a neutral third party helps both sides to agree on the outcome of their dispute.
For claims generally above £5,000, we help fund the National Mediation Helpline. This is a service that can arrange a fixed-fee, time-limited mediation appointment with an accredited provider. For small claims, we offer an in-house service at no additional cost for people already involved in a claim.
The Family Mediation Helpline offers referrals to family mediation services. Legal aid is available subject to eligibility.
