Electoral administration covers the reform of electoral legislation aimed at improving access, engagement, confidence in the system, extending openness and transparency, and maintaining professional delivery of elections and registration procedures.
We are responsible for implementing legislation including the Electoral Administration Act 2006. Our responsibilities cover UK-wide elections and referendums and local government elections in England and Wales (except for mayoral referendums in Wales, which are devolved) and the registration and enfranchisement of electors. We also sponsor the Independent Parliamentary Boundary Commissions for England and Wales.
