Contact the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA)

Update an existing application

You can use this page to contact us directly if you have an existing application. You can use it to let us know if:

  • your personal details change, for example if you’ve moved house or have a new phone number
  • you stop using or change representative
  • you have new information you want to add to your application
  • any information you gave us previously changes
  • you apply for or get compensation or a similar payment from another source for the same injuries

You should only contact us online if you want to update an existing application. This is because you’ll be asked to provide the CICA reference number so we can identify the application.

Your session will time out after 30 minutes of inactivity

Check progress of an existing application

You’ll get a text, email or letter when we receive your application form. We’ll only contact you after this if we need any more information from you, or to tell you the outcome of your application. You do not need to contact us. We’ll still be processing your application if you haven’t heard from us.

We aim to assess applications as quickly as possible. Most are assessed within 12 months from the date we receive the application. More complex cases may take longer.
