HMP Humber remains one of the few sites to offer several options to help people maintain contact with their children and families, including the provision of Family Days, the establishment encourages participation in programmes and intervention engagement, currently offering both the Thinking Skills and Resolve programmes.
HMP Humber has a range of workshops that operate within the establishment, these are geared to promoting appropriate employment skills that people will be able to use when they are released. They range from practical trades including Bricklaying/tiling, painting/decorating and woodworking, to advanced training in Information Technology.
Educational services, provided by Novus, is a cornerstone of our work and is promoted as an essential activity for those new to the site. We set high standards and will continue to encourage those in our care to develop their skills up to Level 2 in Literacy, Numeracy and Information Technology, all of which are critically important both to employers and in allowing learners to achieve their full potential.
Those who are assessed as suitable for open conditions will have the opportunity to work outside of the establishment on a daily basis, in both prison based employment as part of the prison estate management, community placements and also in paid employment. Those who access this regime will be predominantly based in purpose built accommodation with some places available within the main part of the prison.
