Leyhill prison visiting information
You can book online at www.gov.uk/prison-visits to request prison visits.
All you need is:
- the name and date of birth of the person you are visiting
- their prisoner number
You can choose up to 3 possible dates and times. Prison booking staff will check what's available and confirm your visit by email.
If you've made an online visit booking request and haven't received a confirmation email within 1-3 working days, please email SocialVisits.Leyhill@hmps.gsi.gov.uk or call 01454 264000, press option 2 for social visits, lines open Monday-Friday 09:00-11:00 and 14:00-16:00.
Additional information: You may be eligible for help with your travel expenses. The Assisted Prison Visits Unit provides financial help for people on a low income to visit a close relative or partner in prison. Information packs available at entrance to domestic visits area and you can also find details online on the Justice website.
Family visit days catering especially for children are held three times a year between 10:30 and 15:00. These are normally held midweek and during school holidays
There is a family-friendly visitor's centre run by the Prison Advice and Care Trust (PACT), a national charity. Visitors are offered a warm welcome, information and support. Further information can be found on the PACT website.
Prison Voicemail Service
Social contacts can exchange voicemails with prisoners through the Prison Voicemail service, which is available at HMP Leyhill. Family members or friends sign up online and are given a unique landline phone number which they can call at any time to leave messages. The prisoner dials the same number from within the prison to listen and reply. You can find more information including pricing at www.prisonvoicemail.com.

How to get there
Train: There is a regular service to Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads from all parts of the Country. A Taxi or Bus will need to be taken from either station, approximately 20-30 minutes. Contact local services for details.
Bus: From Bristol to Yate using First Group bus service. (This only operates from Monday to Saturday not Sunday or Bank Holidays)
