USER RECOMMENDATION - REMEMBER TO REFRESH!

To ensure that you are viewing the latest version of a rule, practice direction, etc. we strongly recommend that each time you open a file, you should refresh it.

This refreshing is especially important where you bookmark pages, but also it will overwrite and update a file that may have been "cached" earlier by your computer.

SLUGGISHNESS?

Over the past few months many of you who have accessed (or tried to access) our website have noted that the performance has been less than sharp - "sluggish" was the polite term to describe it.

During that time our service provider, the CCTA Government Information Service, was engineering a comprehensive upgrade of their facilities which went live on 14 September. The benefits include:

- a doubling of the bandwidth, and it is set to double again within the next few weeks;
- an upgrade of the search engine from Muscat FX to Muscat Empower; and
- a complete upgrade of the CCTA IT platform to the latest in server technology.

If you want to find out more about these technological advances click here to access the CCTA's homepage, or ring the CCTA's general queries number in Norwich, 01603-704847.

However, as we have already noted, an issue over which neither we nor the CCTA have any control is location - especially if you are based in London. The CCTA has noticed that the performance and download times in London are much more variable and frequently slower than elsewhere in the United Kingdom. This is a simple function of loads on the Internet generally. Local networks and modem speeds can also affect performance.
