Lin Hinnigan, Chair of the YJB, said:

I am pleased to see that HMIP have found that the Wakefield Youth Offending Team have considerably improved the quality of work with children and young people who have offended since the last inspection in 2010. By so doing the Youth Offending Team has achieved a reduction in the numbers of children and young people reoffending, which is good news for the children involved and for the local community.

The YOT Management Board and staff have worked innovatively and effectively to deliver this improved performance. I am confident that they will build on their progress and work hard towards consistent delivery with a focus on quality improvement and protecting the public.
