Justice content on GOV.UK

This website now hosts Civil and Family Procedure Committee Rules content only.

You will be automatically redirected from any other pages to equivalent content on GOV.UK or the National Archives.

Throughout 2014, we’ve been moving content from the Justice site to GOV.UK.

It’s all part of our aim to make information simpler, clearer and faster to find and use.

As we move each organisation onto GOV.UK

, we’ll redirect you to the right place on the new site. Not everything will move over, but older content will still be available via the National Archives

.

Over time, you’ll find less and less information here and you may want to start your journey on GOV.UK

.

If you think something is missing or have any comments about the move, contact web@justice.gsi.gov.uk

The Lord Chancellor Chris Grayling presided over the swearing in of this year’s 84 Queen’s Counsel (QC) and 8 Honorary Queen’s Counsel.

The ceremony is held every year in Westminster Hall at the Palace of Westminster in London.

It awards the rank of Queen’s Counsel to either practising barristers or practising solicitors with Higher Courts Rights of Audience, who have demonstrated excellence in the higher courts.

The honorary rank is made to lawyers, including legal academics, who have made a major contribution to the law of England and Wales outside practice in the courts. It is not a ‘working title’ and cannot be used by the holders in practice.

Because members wear silk gowns of a particular design, the award of Queen’s Counsel is also known as ‘taking silk’.

It is important that those who meet the criteria for public funding – or indeed those with means who may be considering privately funded litigation – come to see family mediation as something more than a viable alternative to going to court.
I hope they would come to see it as the default way to resolve disputes.

A new cross-government website Gov.uk has launched making it quicker and easier for you to interact with the government online.

The website which replaces Directgov and Business Link includes information on:

    • paying court fines online
    • understanding prison sentences
    • creating a power of attorney
    • applying for legal aid

Bringing this information together into one single website will help reduce the financial and administrative impact of running multiple government websites.

To help the transition to the new website, if you access Directgov and Business Link you will be automatically redirected to the correct content on Gov.uk

The next stage of the project will involve merging the content of all government departments and many other public bodies into Gov.uk by the end of March 2014.

Take a look at the website www.gov.uk and give us your feedback www.gov.uk/feedback
